SYD (Radha Mitchell), a low-level journalist in a photography magazine who wants to install himself, notices that his neighbor is once celebrated by downtown photographer Lucy Berliner (Ally Sheedy). Although Syd lives with his boyfriend (Gabriel Mann), he is drawn to Lucy, who has volatile relationships with the heroin’s independent girlfriend Greta (Patricia Clarkson). When Syd begins to sleep with Lucy, he is pulled into an enchanting but dangerous scene of the art world, full of drugs and unexpected pleasures.
